Self-esteem is how we feel about our self or our abilities and our worth in all areas of life. If one “feels enough” in the different situations in his life, he has high self-esteem. And he consistently feels okay or comfortable with who one is on a daily basis, he has stable self-esteem. How can each of us have stable High Self-Esteem?

Live consciously for stable high self-esteem.

With self-awareness, you can be in tune with who you are – our likes, dislikes, needs, wants, strengths, weaknesses, accomplishments, beliefs and values.

Evaluate yourself honestly.

When one is honest with oneself about who you are, you project your true and best self, not a false sense of self. Thus, you gain respect, which increases your self-respect.

Acknowledge your accomplishments.

When you recognize your accomplishments, you can identify strengths that you can verify. Therefore, you know you own them, for they helped you achieve your successes.  You feel capable. Hence, you feel enough.

Accept yourself.

You want to accept yourself just as we are — your strengths and weaknesses. If a person does not accept one’s flaws, he is rejecting him or herself and setting himself up to make mistakes. If a person dos not acknowledge his flaws, how will one know how to improve yourself to become the person you want to be?

Live with integrity to ensure stable high self-esteem.

This is being true to yourself, following your heart and honoring your values. It is doing what is right. Each of us has a conscious. When you follow your conscious, you have have no regrets and guilt. Maintaining respect for oneself naturally, affects how one feels about self.

Live in the present.

The past is gone; one can not undo it. Thus, focus your attention on what you are doing right or good now. Use mistakes to make better choices to prevent mistakes in the future.

Give yourself positive feedback.

Reaffirm yourself based on your accomplishments — your strengths, abilities and qualities, and the good in your life.

Set goals.

You want to set goals based on your strengths also. When you do, you know you have a better chance of success. Therefore, you walk with confidence and thus experience less stress.

Take positive action to facilitate stable high self-esteem.

Use assertive behavior to meet your needs and wants, reach your goals, live by your values, and stand up for your rights.

When one finds one’s best self and lives with it or projects it on a regular basis, you feel good about yourself. Therefore, you feel in charge of your life.
